Principal's Message

Colonial Families,

I am excited and honored to join the Colonial Community as Principal of New Oxford High School.  I have spent 25 years in education, serving as a teacher, coach, middle school assistant principal, and most recently, eight years as the principal of Gettysburg Area Middle School.  I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education from the University of Delaware, my master’s degree in educational leadership from Immaculata University, and my doctorate in educational leadership from Shippensburg and Millersville Universities.  I am blessed to have two boys, a freshman and a senior in high school, who keep me busy with all of their sports and activities!  My husband and I are die-hard Philadelphia fans. (Go BIRDS!  Go Phils!)  I enjoy staying active myself, spending time outdoors with family or curled up by the fire with a good book.

It is my responsibility to ensure that ALL Colonial students thrive in both their academic and social/emotional lives, excelling along their chosen career path.  Every student CAN achieve success!  When students feel connected to their school community, wonderful opportunities open up. In partnership with our Colonial families I will work hard to support and guide our young people as they navigate the often challenging and ever-changing high school years! There will always be a team of support behind them every step of the way.  I look forward to becoming part of this great community of families, so thank you for welcoming me in!
My door is always open so please reach out when needed.  Together we can work together to support the future generations of successful Colonials!

Sincerely,
Dr. Nancy Herb
