Coaching Vacancies:

The following must be returned before starting any coaching assignments

2. Clearances
Upon hire you will need to provide the following clearances. Please be sure to select Employment as the reason you are obtaining the clearances. These forms must be turned in prior to board approval.

- Child Abuse History Clearance
- PA Criminal History Clearance
- Federal Criminal History Report (required for all stipend coaches, volunteer coaches required IF lived in PA less than 10 years) [Use code 1KG6XN]
3. Tuberculin(TB) Skin Test
Effective July 1, 2016, all coaches will be required to provide documentation of receiving a TB test. A copy of the results must be returned to the HR Department.
4.Cardiac Wise AND Concussion Wise
This training can be obtained free of charge online through Sport Safety International (https://www.sportsafety.com/). Each course is approximately 20 minutes in length. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to forward the completion email to the athletic office. These courses must be completed annually per PIAA requirements.
5. Continuing Education Courses will be required for all paid and volunteer coaches engaged at a PIAA Member School (Effective July 1, 2016*) NOTE: All paid or volunteer coaches currently employed or engaged by a PIAA member school must complete two courses as provided above no later than June 30, 2018. First time coaches hired at any PIAA school after July 1, 2016, will have two years from their date of hire to complete this requirement. PIAA will be accepting of Safe Schools Training for Coaching Education as long as your school or school district has purchased Safe Schools Training for ALL STAFF. Listed below are the modules needed to satisfy the Fundamentals of Coaching and First Aid Requirements.
Fundamentals of Coaching Coursework:
Athletic Liability, Conflict Management: Managing the Angry Parent, Title IX and Gender Equity in Athletics, Hazing, Steroid and PED Awareness in Athletics, Emergency Operations Planning: Building the Plan, Emergency Operations Planning: Implementing the Plan, Sensitivity Awareness, Conflict Management: Student-to-Student, Diversity Awareness: Staff-to-Student, and Online Safety: Cyberbullying
First Aid Coursework:
First-Aid, Sport Supervision & Safety, Heat Illness Prevention, Student Drug and Alcohol Abuse, AED, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Once completed, coaches will receive TWO certificates for all modules completed through Safe Schools Training. One certificate will be for the Fundamentals of Coaching coursework and the other will be for the First Aid coursework. Please contact your Safe Schools Account Manager to set this up. These certificates can then be uploaded to their Coaches’ profile for approval by the PIAA
